Field of View (FOV) is the angle which describes the amount of the Earth's surface the spacecraft can see at any on time.

field of view from spacecraft The higher the spacecraft is above the Earth, the more you can see; so the size of the orbit determines the spacecraft's field of view. The area of coverage on the Earth's surface is called the swath width.
