Banks Penninsula, New Zealand
![]() Click for full sized image The Banks Peninsula on the South Island of New Zealand is home to many natural bays and harbors. The peninsula is also the main volcanic feature of the South Island. The peninsula was made from the eroded remains of two large stratovolcanoes that were formed by intraplate volcanism on a continental crust approximately eight to eleven million years ago. |
