ISS EarthKAM Teams
Mission Operations Center (MOC) team members perform two roles during their
participation in the program. Before each
mission, during which the camera is operational, team members prepare
by writing software, corresponding with middle schools
and updating procedures. During the mission, team members are
responsible for particular stations in the MOC. These stations
resemble the positions of Johnson Space Center's Mission Control.
Current teams and their team members:
- Advisors
The advisors oversee the progress of the various other teams
and often offer solutions and suggestions. Some of the advisors
are alumni of the ISS EarthKAM program.
- Management
The student managers surpervise all ISS EarthKAM activities, working closely with team leads to ensure successful missions.
- Images
The Images Team investigates and develops descriptions of the images
based on physical geography, Earth science, history, math,
weather and climate, social studies, and biology.
- Software
The Software Team writes and maintains all of the internal
software systems. These programs are vital to the mission,
as they allow pictures to be selected, prepared, sent to
the International Space Station, and finally retrieved.
- Web
The Web Team is in charge of the design and maintenance of the
ISS EarthKAM Web site.
- School
The School Team acts as the liason between participating schools and ISS EarthKAM.
- Alumni
These Alumni served ISS EarthKAM and hopefully are moving on to new and wonderful things in life.
